You took the childbirth classes, registered for everything your baby could possibly need, painted and decorated the nursery, and reviewed your birth plan with your wonderful care providers. You’re all set for the big day–your little one’s birthday!

Have you planned for the day after?  And the day after that?  What happens when you return home?  Who will go to the grocery store when you open the doors to an empty refrigerator?  Where is the nurse who was so helpful to you those first few hours of breastfeeding?  How will you manage all of the new demands?

As your postpartum doula…

I can:

  • Assist you with breastfeeding issues.
  • Teach you how to use that seemingly impossible baby carrier.
  • Educate you on how to read your baby’s cues in regards to feeding and sleep.
  • Cuddle and care for your baby while you take a much-needed nap or shower.
  • Share with you the knowledge I’ve gained through over 12 years of experience.
  • Help make this transition in your life one of joy and love.

I cannot:

  • Be a babysitter. My role is to educate, support, and help prepare you to take on your new roles in your family.
  • Take the place of your spouse or other family members.
  • Tell you what is best for your family and your baby.
  • Assist or advise with infant sleep training.
  • Ignore cries for help, even if they are silent. I also care for the emotional well-being of mothers during the postpartum time.
